Austrian modernist photographer. One of the leading representatives of artistic photography of his time, whose work became revolutionary in the period of the Great Depression between the two world wars.

The love of the photographer for nature contributed to his latest series of works that reflects peasant life in Tyrol, which was the culmination of a grand exhibition in 1936, where there were 500 pictures, called "Land und Leute" (Country and People), in which he tried to reflect national life and traditions of its people.
