We would like to tell you about a legendary person:William Willis.

Willis was attracted since childhood by adventures, as a teenager, he ran away from home and got a job as a sailor, went to Canada, Alaska, South America.

In 1954, at the age of 60, Willis took a single voyage from the coast of South America to American Samoa on a raft, which he called the "Seven Sisters".

However, the journey was not exactly made lonely but in company Willis were cat Mickey and parrot Ikki, which he called "full members of the team."

Together they covered the distance of 12 000 km. During this journey several times Willis was on the verge of death.

But luck was on his side and after one hundred and fifteen days of trials and adventures, "Seven Sisters" moored to the shores of Samoa. Entered in the land, exhausted Willis, Mickey cat in her arms, was greeted with applause and enthusiasm.

Willis was a vegetarian and on the sea he ate canned vegetables, condensed milk, barley flour, cane sugar, and drank fruit juice.

In 1964, that is already 70 years old man, Willis makes his second voyage. On the raft, "Age is not an obstacle," he then swims 19 800 km from Peru to Australia.

In 1968, Willis goes into his third single voyage. He intends to cross the Atlantic Ocean from Montauk to Plymouth on a small boat called "Baby."

On May 2 Willis sails away, and on September 26 a Soviet fishing vessel detects broken "Petite" at the coast of Ireland. The boat was empty. The last entry in the shift magazine dated the 20th of July. It is assumed that Willis was washed overboard by a big wave.

William Willis described his adventures in several books as "Epic journey" Seven Sisters "," ( "On a raft across the ocean"), "Age is not an obstacle" and "Kidnapped by the sea." On board of the "Babes" he prepared his new book "The oldest man on the smallest boat."
