"Wandervogel"

"Wandervogel" youth - movement, was founded in Germany at the edge of 19th and beginning of 20th century. Thousands of young man and women have marched with Wandervogel. This people's goal was to reject the philistinism, bourgeois and materialism of megapolises.
Their name was taken from striding scholars of Medieval epoch. It contains a symbolism of free, protest spirit, that has abandoned the comfortable life of the european common man.
All over the Germany Wandervogel's groups used to build squats, organize meetings and live far from big citie's madness, where they got used to village- life in harmony with Nature.
Often, Wandervogel used to travel for several months, to get known with the Motherland's beauty, studying it's flora and fauna, reconstructing the ancient heathen ceremonies. They have read Nietzsche, Kipling and Jack London.
Their banners and charms were decorated with rubes and swastikas. They attend the cult of Beauty and Youth, soul, opened for an Earth and Cosmos, romanticism and revolution. They have rejected urbanist- way of human's.
Life in concrete cages and rationalistic common thinking, were inspired by spirit of unity and brotherhood, pure, emotional and non- trivialized attitude to the pure, naked body, love to their folk's traditions and alacrity to protect their Motherland. After national- socialistic party become official power, Wandervogel have joined Hitlerjugend's youth.
When the war has begun, former " Travelling birds " have proved their faith with an arms in their hands. Wandervogel still exist, but, of course, it has no connection with the past, just true Wandering birds.
